Silvana Costa is a global leader in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) in the global mining industry. Originally from Brazil, Silvana is a lifelong learner with a 20-year career spanning Architecture, Environmental/Urban/Community Planning, and Sustainability. Silvana has a PhD in Mining and her experience in the extractives sector range from academic research, consulting, government, and executive industry roles.
Silvana is currently the President and a Board Director at a non-profit board. Beyond strategic direction and planning, she provided leadership through the COVID-19 pandemic, guiding the non-profit organization to thrive and grow through the adaptation of programs, effective risk management and excellence in operations safety.
Silvana is leading the development of ESG strategy, governance mechanisms, performance improvement and transparency frameworks in mining. She is a frequent speaker and panelist with multicultural experience in seven countries and proficiency in four languages.
Silvana has her board certification from Corporate Directors International LLC, USA. Her designation, CDI.D, recognizes her as a qualified corporate board candidate for a public or private board.
