Multi-faceted electric energy industry expertise due to roles in government, public power, investor-owned utilities and regional grid operator. Executive leader facilitating 11 utilities in upper Midwest to jointly develop and build 700 miles of high-voltage transmission lines in a 4-state region, amounting to a $2B capital investment.
Developed a regulator and member outreach model to benefit electric energy industry members in 5 upper Midwest states and Province of Manitoba, served by regional transmission operator providing transmission and market services. Successfully executed a FERC-mandated competitive bidding process for regional transmission ownership, resulting in template for future bid projects. Current Chief Transmission Officer managing a $200M transmission division budget and 300 employees, including 150 field and union employees, providing transmission services impacting nearly 1.3M customers in Minnesota. Responsible for increasing cooperative transmission infrastructure gross plant value by nearly 40%. Secured significant regional transmission investment, largest in electric cooperative history, resulting in decrease to the transmission costs paid by members by 2/3.
