Liz’s extensive legal and regulatory background, along with her proven leadership and government appointments demonstrate her ability to be on a corporate board; She has testified in front of Colorado Senate and House of Representatives to successfully pass a bill that gives the Commission she Chairs more independence.
Liz is an award-winning trial lawyer with 27 years of experience and community advocate with 22 years serving on commissions, 15 years as a board member, 4 years as Chair. Liz has conducted over 100 jury trials nationwide with expertise in criminal defense, white collar and civil litigation, securities law and internal investigations, ethics, and professional conduct. Liz worked as a trial attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission and served as Federal Employee Union Representative.
Liz’s board service includes roles as President, Vice-President of Sections and Committees, Chair of Committees, Diversity and Inclusion, and Governance, including gubernatorial appointments from Colorado Governors John Hickenlooper (now U.S. Senator) and Jared Polis.
Liz is an educator with more than 13 years teaching trial advocacy; adjunct professor for University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Coach for American Association for Justice Mock Trial team, Program Director National Institute for Trial Advocacy and National Organization of Bar Counsel. She is also a mentor for “Law School Yes We Can” and a frequent lecturer/speaker on podcasts, at conferences and galas as well as speaking at middle and high school.
Liz is recognized as outstanding attorney by the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, Best Lawyers in America and named one of the Most Powerful Latinos in the Law by Latino Leaders Magazine.
