Dr. Minerva Cernea

"You never know where you are going to meet someone and Minerva happened to meet one of the ACE Graduates one morning on the way to work in Toronto, on the bus. They sat next to each other and struck up a conversation and got on the topic of women getting on boards. Afifa Siddiqui (Certified Board Candidate and ACE Graduate 2018) told her about the ACE program and connected us.

There are so many reasons why I believe Minerva is a great board candidate and as I got to know her better, I learned how diverse her background is and how much she has accomplished. For example, Minerva has worked on the brains of robots - not many people can say that. She also worked as a marketing manager for Apple computer in Romania during a recovery after a revolution there.

Minerva has held management and executive roles, and is a compensation and succession expert. In one job, she generated and managed projects in 18 countries. She has a PhD, which she earned later in life. Minerva now wants to apply her extensive expertise to a corporate board.

Dr. Minerva Cernea’s general management and senior executive experience and her international business acumen qualify her to serve on public and private boards, including compensation and nominating committees in the Industrial/Technology, Professional Services, and Education industries."

"ACE training helped to acquire specific board knowledge, increased my confidence in applying for board positions, and provided me with the opportunity to be part of a strong community of top business women whom are board ready."
