September 27, 2024 Vancouver, BC: InBC Appoints Natascha Kiernan to Board of Directors
Please join us in welcoming four incoming members to InBC’s Board of Directors. Heather Conradi, Natascha Kiernan, Dr. Carol Liao and Dr. Daniel Muzyka will be commencing their positions on September 1, 2024. These incoming members bring a variety of experience and expertise in areas such as governance, legal and investment. We are also pleased to announce the appointment of existing member Suzanne Trottier as Board Chair.
InBC’s nine-member Board of Directors is comprised of two members appointed from public service and the remaining as representatives from industry, finance, academia and other areas of leadership in the province. Their breadth of experience and knowledge are invaluable to our team as we advance our mandate to invest in a more prosperous, sustainable and inclusive future for British Columbia.
We also thank our departing Board Directors for all their advice and oversight of InBC during their terms.

Natascha Kiernan is a lawyer, independent director and strategic advisor. She currently serves as the Vice Chair of the BC Energy Regulator and as an independent director of Soma Gold Corp. (TSXV: Soma), Empress Royalty Corp. (TSXV: EMPR) and Green Impact Partners. She also serves on the Project Selection Committee for Cycle 6 of Canada’s Digital Supercluster. Natascha has extensive experience with chairing public company committees, including governance, compensation and ESG committees, and with serving on audit committees. Her legal background includes advising on some of the world’s largest and most complex infrastructure and energy projects, including renewable energy and cleantech projects. She also has experience serving on the boards of several non-profit charitable and educational organizations and she currently serves as a Regional Ambassador for Women Get on Board, an organization whose purpose is to promote women in leadership positions.

About Natascha:
Natascha Kiernan is an experienced independent director, lawyer, and strategic advisor. Ms. Kiernan received her J.D. from Columbia University and has held senior positions with several prominent international law firms, including 12 years in the New York and London offices of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. She has 18 years experience advising governments, financial institutions, and corporations on complex, multi-billion dollar M&A and finance transactions involving mining, energy, and infrastructure assets. Ms. Kiernan serves as an independent director on the boards of Empress Royalty Corp (TSXV: EMPR), Soma Gold Corp (TSXV: Soma) and Altaley Mining Corporation (TSXV: ATLY), and as a Board Member Consultant to the BC Energy Regulator. She is the founder and principal of Bellevue Strategic Advisory, which provides advice to corporate clients on transaction structuring, risk management, and corporate governance.
Ms. Kiernan is a frequent lecturer and panel presenter on topics related to M&A, finance, and corporate governance. Ms. Kiernan volunteers as a member of the Legal Committee of Transparency International, as a Mentor in the Professional Women’s Program at Dress For Success, and as an Independent Director on the board of the Vancouver Writers’ Fest. In addition to the CDI.D designation, Ms. Kiernan holds the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and is in the process of completing the CCB.D Climate & Biodiversity Designation from Competent Boards. Ms. Kiernan was previously selected as a “Top 40 under 40” rising legal star by the Financial News.
